Carnival King cake is the Louisiana pastry offered at Carnival time. It’s a cinnamon-roll like cake which is lightweight and as well as fluffy and on the inside it is stuffed with sugary icing. On the exterior, it is actually iced and / or sprinkled in Carnival shades. Ingredients one package dried yeast ? cup very hot water half-dozen teaspoons milk (lowfat or regular -either will be alright), boiled and then cooled down. As this is a real tiny amount of milk, I like to boil it in a small to medium sized container within a microwave oven. I find it simpler to carry out than on the oven top. four or five cups of flour ? pound of butter ? cup of sugar ? tsp . of salt four eggs 1 tablespoon of butter, melted and cooled off or some Pam 1/4 cup of light corn syrup, for frosting (Or possibly, you if would like white-colored icing, quite simply combine one cup of powdered sugar along with 1/3-1/2 cup whole milk) Colored sugar crystals (purple, green, yellow), for scattering upon the cake Directions: Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees and grease a large cookie sheet, then set aside. Dissolve the yeast in very warm (not hot) water. Stir in the milk and just about ? cup of flour. In a big bowl, blend the butter, sugar, salt, and 4 eggs. Then, add yeast mixture and combine thoroughly. Steadily add 2? cups of the flour to make the dough, brush with the melted butter or spray with Pam. This will prevent the dough from splitting as it rises. Cover your bowl with a clean towel and position the bowl in a warm spot. Allow for the dough to rise for 3-4 hours or until about doubled in size. Once it has risen, punch it down and then prepare the counter-top to knead the dough. Dust the countertop and the dough with give or take 1/2 cup to 1 cup of flour to stop it from becoming unmanageable as you knead it. Loosely form the dough into a 3-4 foot long loaf and then design it into an oval on the buttered baking sheet. Pinch the ends of the oval together to form the oval. Moisten your hands if required to get the two ends to stick together. Once again, cover the oval dough with a clean towel and allow it to rise until doubled in size, which should be just around one hour. Remove the towel and bake for 35-45 minutes or until the top is slightly browned. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for around 15 and then drizzle the corn syrup on top. Pour on the sprinkles and enjoy this Mardi Gras King Cake!
