Remember The Miners, Little General Announce Inaugural Bob Huggins Tailgate

Remember The Miners is excited to announce its first event in 2012, the Bob Huggins Tailgate Presented by Little General.

The Bob Huggins Tailgate will take place January 17th at Charleston Moose Lodge in Charleston, West Virginia, and will benefit the Remember The Miners Scholars Program and the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund. The event begins at 7 PM.

The Remember The Miners Scholars Program was created in 2011 to provide financial aid to miners, dependents of miners, and students pursuing higher education in the mining industry. Scholarships are awarded twice annually during spring and fall semesters. In its first year, the Scholars Program awarded $ 25,000.

The Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund is named in honor of WVU Coach Bob Huggins late mother, Norma Mae. Coach Huggins serves as Honorary Chariman to Remember The Miners, and has long been a supporter of the hard work of the men and women of the coal mining industry.

Im looking forward to joining with Remember The Miners and Little General at the Charleston Moose Lodge for the Tailgate. Itll be a great time to celebrate the miners of West Virginia and raise funds for two causes very important to me, Coach Huggins said.

Coach Huggins has been an integral part of fundraising with Remember The Miners. In 2010, the Bob Huggins Fish Fry was held at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown. Like the Bob Huggins Tailgate on January 17th, the Fish Fry raised funds and brought awareness to miners through the appearance of VIPs like Randy Moss and NBA players. The Tailgate will be held the night before the highly spirited game of WVU-Marshall, and will feature a concert performance from local West Virginia musical talent Taylor Made.

We encourage everyone to come join us the night of January 17th. Itll be an event that is fun for the entire family. We are grateful to Little General and the Moose Lodge for making it happen. Its the place to celebrate all that is great about West Virginia the night before the WVU and Marshalls mens teams face off, said Jason Parsons of Remember The Miners.
