Buckeyes To Play Badgers In Big Ten No. 1 vs. No. 2

According to Ohio State coach Thad Matta, the Buckeyes are a much improved team even though they have many freshmen playing for them. With this statement, Matta hopes that the Buckeyes would do well when they take on Wisconsin Badgers in the No. 1 versus No. 2 game between the Big Ten teams.

On January 9, 2007, the Buckeyes lost 72-69 in Madison. 4 of their top 8 players are freshmen, including the 7 foot Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. After this loss, center Oden and point guard Conley have been quick to learn the nuances of basketball and correct their mistakes.

Matta said that the Buckeyes have a lot more experience now. They have played seven Big Ten road games and this has experience has managed to mature the team. The Buckeyes have also played games against No. 3 Florida, No. 4 North Carolina and No. 5 Wisconsin at their home courts and this has given the Buckeyes a whole new understanding of college basketball.

In the Big Ten No. 1 vs. No. 2, the Buckeyes would not like to disappoint their supporters, who would be attending the game at Value City Arena, specially after they recently lost a game to Michigan State. With two game left, Buckeyes have a one game advantage in the conference and if they beat Wisconsin, they will win the second consecutive Big Ten title outright.

Oden is just recovering from a wrist injury and he still wears an elastic brace on his right wrist. This injury sidelined him for the first seven games. He is averaging nearly 16 points with 10 rebounds. While Conley is the leader in Big Ten when it comes to steals and assists.
