Since Jon Stewart took over as host in 1999, the show has become massively popular and influential in society as a whole. Stewart intros the show everyday with a segment that covers (and usually mocks) news stories that either don’t receive enough coverage by most news stations or stories that receive too much coverage. He also interviews authors, professors, scientists, politicians, musicians, actors and all sorts of important people. The show is now so influential that many traditional news outlets take time in their own shows to address things Stewart has said on his show.
