The Band's Levon Helm dies at 71

Enigmatic drummer and baritone vocalist behind The Band has died at the age of 71 after a lengthy battle with cancer, the Times-Herald Record reports.

Decades, the music never stopped until Jerry Garcia, the band's lead guitarist and composer of hits such as "Truckin'" and "Casey Jones," died of a heart attack in 1995.

Band gets $103500 in donations: With a little more than a month to go, and facing a $210000 shortage, the MLK HS Band gets a donation from Ford, The UAW and a local McDonald's.
