Pros: Carries allot of the Mario franchise fanfare to the P.C. platform quite well. Game play mechanics are there. The unique enhancements to the game are done in a way that make them convincing additions to the game.

Cons: The game play mechanics are there but, a seasoned veteran of the Nintendo Era and Mario Brothers will spot some minor inconsistencies in the flow of the player character — particularly while jumping and trying to land on enemies.

Summary: All in all, this Mario installment is so close to a Nintendo release that it almost makes me jealous; what’s more, I don’t program or plan to program games ever.

I think this game is as close to a real Mario release as I’ve seen without an official Nintendo license seal attached to a box.

The author of this game is updating, enhancing, and expanding the game quite frequently for a free game publisher and those points alone really lend to the game’s refined level of quality. Anyone interested in playing a Mario Brothers game on the P.C. platform, for whatever reason they may have, will undoubtedly enjoy this title immeasurably.

I’ve played games since the 80′s arcades and this game has a convincing strategy that makes it quite worthy of Mario Brothers fandom. It is not easy to achieve a level of grace with this seemingly simple franchise title and the author is so close I could swear he must have worked at Nintendo at one point in his life.

Try this game out and you will more than likely agree with me that this game might be a Mario installment to remember. This game is all you — have at it and kill some hours easily.

Super Mario Forever is really a classic Mario remake. Once again you strap on your wrench and hardhat and guide the chubby plumber through many skillfully made levels. The diversity of the levels is very impressive. You will have to get through levels ranging from underwater caverns to levels filled with hot lava.

Version 4.4 features additional options in window menu and adds check points to all levels in normal campaign.

Hearkening back to the heyday of Nintendo, this game faithfully reproduces the classic Super Mario Bros. Although Mario Forever’s graphics and sound aren’t identical to those of the original, they’re so close most users familiar with the game won’t be able to differentiate.

The basic platformer action hasn’t changed either. As the feisty little plumber Mario, you traverse different worlds to collect coins while dodging enemies such as malevolent mushrooms and ill-tempered turtles. You won’t find an extensive feature set, but you can at least change the keyboard controls or disable the music and sound effects.

However, we do think Mario Forever consumes a bit too much processor time, especially considering its outdated design. But if you were a fan of the 1980s classic Super Mario Bros., then we doubt this freebie will disappoint you.
